LEE HARVEY OSWALD'S LIFE INSURANCE

A very unusual collection documenting a life insurance policy on President John F. Kennedy's alleged assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald. Marguerite, Oswald's mother, took out a $1,000 life insurance policy for her youngest son in 1945, when he was six years old. The policy lapsed briefly for non-payment in 1959, was reinstated. On 24 November 1963, two days after Oswald allegedly shot President Kennedy, Oswald himself fell victim to a bullet fired by Jack Ruby. Aftersome negotiations, Mrs. Oswald was paid the sum of $863. The collection includes: ONE DOCUMENT SIGNED BY LEE HARVEY OSWALD, the original death claim filed by Marguerite Oswald, two documents recording the cause of death ("gun shot wound," "homicide"), one ALS of Marguerite Oswald to Jesse Willis of the National Life and Accident Inscurance Company, plus four additional documents signed by Marguerite Oswald. [With:] Twenty-four insurance related documents, forms and correspondence.
