The panelled plinth and trunk door inlaid with flowerheads, leafy scrolls, urn and birds, the flat top hood with twist columns supporting moulded cornice and pierced frieze, the dial with silvered chapter ring enclosing seconds ring, date aperture and ringed winding holes in the matted center enhanced with scrolls and rosette, the movement with five ringed pillars, later dead beat escapement with V-anchor, striking the hours on bell by means of countwheel planted on backplate, c. 1695 with alterations-- 78in. (198cm.) high
