Lot Essay

The initials PR JJ inscribed on the back of this mirror have been tentatively linked by Patricia Lemonnier to the Parisian marchand miroitier Pierre Rabel de Corneville whose workshop was in the rue Grenetat, Paris. The inventory carried out following the death of his wife in 1764 lists almost 60 mirrors. This same mark is known to appear on three other mirrors.
