A RARE CALCIFIED JADE DRAGON PENDANT NEOLITHIC, HONGSHAN CULTURE, 3RD MILLENIUM, B.C.

The thick pendant carved as a dragon with large head coiled around a central biconical aperture, the creased, mask-like face simply carved on both sides with bared fangs and large circular eyes delineated by linear grooves below a pair of flanged horns, a smaller biconical hole drilled below the curve of the back, the smooth opaque-colored stone with traces of earth encrustation-- 1 1/2in. (3.8cm.) long, brocade box
