A GERMAN LARGE FOUR-PIECE TEA AND COFFEE-SERVICE ON TRAY , Hanau, late 19th Century, comprising tea-pot, coffee-pot, two-handled covered sugar-bowl and cream-jug, each pear-shaped on raised shaped circular foot, the rococo style asymetrical vacant cartouche, front and back, within rocaille and scroll repousse and chased surround, each piece with different eighteenth century figural scene and the shoulder with flowerbaskets and floral festoons, the multi-scroll handles, spouts and raised hinged covers, with conforming decoration, the covers topped by elaborate cast floral finial--the coffee-pot 13½in. (34.2cm.) high; the shaped oval tray chased with conforming decoration and four times with romantic Watteauesque scenes--24in. (60.9cm.) long, gross weight 186.5oz.
