A NEOCLASSICAL FIVE-PIECE TEA-SERVICE, with maker's mark of Bailey & Kitchen, Philadelphia, 1832-1846, comprising tea-urn, teapot, covered sugar-vase, cream-jug and waste-bowl, each vase-shaped, the molded spreading circular foot on square plinth, the lower part of the body chased with acanthus leaf band, the shoulder chased with tied husk bands between paterae and centering on two sides applied lion's mask, the tea-urn and sugar-bowl issuing drop ring handles; the cream-jug with elaborate swan and foliate handle, the teapot with floral engraved and ram's mask angular handle, with hinged partly domed leaf chased cover, headed by acorn finial; the tea-urn with similar cover, and with foliate and baluster ivory tap--the tea-urn 14½in. (36.8cm.) high, gross weight 141.5oz.
