Lot Essay

The sitter was the wife of a French diplomat who served as First Secretary at the French Embassy in Mexico during the years 1935-1938. Rivera depicted his subject, a glamorous lady, dressed in an elegant evening tunic reflecting the stylish way of life of those pre-war days.
