A PAIR OF FINE GEORGE III SILVER SOUP-TUREENS, COVERS, AND STANDS
LONDON, 1808, MAKER'S MARK OF PAUL STORR

Of oval form each raised on four massive acanthus scroll feet terminating in octagonal pads, the lower part of the bodies chased with flutes and applied wtih a moulded mid-rib, the gadrooned rim with acanthus at intervals, with two reeded and acanthus lion-mask handles, engraved with a coat-of-arms against drapery mantling, the domed covers chased with a band of dentilation adn applied with a band of pearls enclosing a calyx of water leaves and double-scroll ribbed and acanthus-clad handles, engraved with a crest and motto; the oval stands each on four paw and honeysuckle feet, the gadrooned rims with acanthus scrolls and water leaves, chased within with a band of dentilation, egraved with the same arms, fully marked -- length of stand 20 in. (50.8 cm.)
