A SUITE OF ITALIAN NEO-CLASSIC WALNUT SEAT FURNITURE
THIRD QUARTER 18TH CENTURY, Probably Tuscany

Comprising a settee and pair of armchairs, each with bold scroll arms above leaf-tip carved baluster supports, the rectangular padded seat above a leaf-tip carved seat rail centrally carved with a flowerhead and a sunflower entrelac, on circular tapering fluted legs ending in stiff leaves, upholstered in gold foliate silk--the settee 54in. A virtually identical walnut settee with similarly outscrolled arms is illustrated in W. M. Odom, A History of Italian Furniture, 1967, vol. 2. p. 192 (3)
