A SILVER HOT-MILK JUG, CANN AND SMALL GROUP OF SPOONS, the first, with maker's mark of Philip Syng, circa 1730, converted from a cann, baluster, on circular spreading foot, the front later applied with crest within tied laurel berry wreath, above with later spout, applied with acanthus leaf, the scroll handle with foliate join, gilt interior--5in. (12.7cm.) high; the cann--New York, circa 1840, maker's mark of Wm. I. Tenney, cylindrical, on die-rolled foot-rim, engraved with name in script Margaret A. Peckham; between chased reeded bands, with scroll handle--3¾in. (9.5cm.) high; together with a set of five Fiddle pattern, initialled, dessert-spoons --maker's mark of Davis & Brown, Boston, circa 1809; two further dessert-spoons, seven teaspoons and a butter-spreader--17 pieces, 38oz.
