A GEORGE III COMPOSITE SILVER THREE-PIECE TEA-SERVICE, the teapot, 1816, maker's mark rubbed, the two-handled sugar-bowl Edinburgh, 1818, maker's mark ?M, the cream-jug, London, 1803, maker's mark of Thomas Whipham, each oblong bombe, the teapot on four foliate lion's mask paw feet, later engraved with band of flowering foliage beneath molded bands to the shoulder, with tongue-and-dart collar, the partly raised hinged cover with engraved scalloped oblong finial, panelled spout, and part reeded scroll handle with foliate shell cap, the underside with initials and later date; the sugar-bowl on four foliate paw feet, initialled, with applied foliate shell and gadrooned rim and foliate scroll handles; the cream-jug plainer, with wreath cartouche to two sides, reeded rim and angular handle--the teapot 6in. (15.2cm.) high, gross weight 34oz.
