AN IRISH SILVER HOT-WATER JUG AND A SET OF FOUR GEORGE II CIRCULAR SALTS, the first bearing marks for Dublin, 1774, maker's mark of John Locker, (maker's mark on body worn, the cover marked), chased later, pear-shaped on spreading circular foot, one side engraved with crest within later oval husk surround, the shoulder chased with ribbon tied husk festoons, with swooping bird, the remainder twice chased with cherry sprig and flowering branch, each with a bird, the foot and raised hinged cover chased with floral sprigs, the cover topped by acanthus bud finial, the spout applied with leaf and tendril, with wood scroll handle--12¼in. (31.1cm.) high; the salts-- London, 1753, maker's mark probably that of David Hennell I (marks worn), each compressed circular, on three lion's paw feet, headed by lion's mask, with everted scalloped rim--3in. (7.6cm.) diam., gross weight 43.5oz.
