A FIVE PIECE SILVER TEA AND COFFEE-SERVICE, maker's mark of Howard Sterling Co., retailed by Bigelow, Kennard & Co., circa 1901, comprising tea-kettle, stand and lamp, teapot, coffee-pot, cream-jug and waste-bowl (sugar-bowl lacking), each octagonal urn-form, monogrammed, on spreading foot, engraved underneath foot June 5, 1901, with applied bead and lozenge rim, harp-form handle, the pots and kettle with panelled upcurved spout, hinged partly domed, partly panelled cover, headed by covered urn finial, the tea-kettle on octagonal stand with tapering supports, with overhead swing handle, the burner missing cover--height of tea-kettle on stand over handle 12in. (30.4cm.), gross weight 118oz.
