A FIGURAL SILVER COMPOTE, maker's mark of Gorham, circa 1870, no. 160 (for an identical figure to a presentation centerpiece, see Gorham Silver 1831-1981, by Charles H. Carpenter, Jr., plate 158, p. 165), the spreading conical bowl with die-rolled inverted rim, supported by stem formed as a diaphanously draped Classical female, wearing earrings, with arms upraised supporting die-rolled band, all resting on raised molded circular foot--10½in. (26.6cm.) high, 41oz.
