This painting was executed in 1925. According to Mary Adam Landa, Curator of the Wyeth Private Collection, the house in the background is the John Chad House on north Route 100 in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. To the left is the Chad Barn which no longer stands. The Headgate in the foreground is on the race that fed Hoffman's Mill which is now the Brandywine River Museum. A copy of this letter from Ms. Landa accompanies the lot.
