AN INLAID CELADON CUP AND STAND
KORYO DYNASTY (12TH CENTURY)

The ten lobed cup on short, flared foot with incised decoration on the interior of a central flowerhead medallion surrounded by flower-sprays, one to each lobe, the exterior inlaid in black and white slip with each lobe with a floral design, under an incised band of scrolling floral meander and above an incised leaf design, beneath a rich bubble-suffused celadon glaze - 3 7/8 x 3 1/2in. (9.8 x 9cm.), haircrack to rim; the stand with six-lobed saucer on raised and slightly flared foot decorated with a flowring plant, each lobe with either inlaid black and white slip interspersed with incised flowering peony beneath a rich, bubble-suffused celadon glaze - 1 1/2 x 5 (3.8 x 14.6cm.)
