A VERY RARE QUEEN ANNE JAPANNED MINIATURE LONGCASE CLOCK
On plain plinth with moulded skirt and later bun feet, the trunk with oblong door pierced with glazed lenticle, the hood with caddy top, painted and lacquered with exotic birds and foliage in Chinoiserie landscape on ground painted to simulate tortoiseshell, the diminutive movement, signed Manley in Norwich, with four ringed pillars and rectangular plates, anchor escapement with seconds pendulum, striking the hours on bell by means of inside countwheel, the seven inch square dial with silvered chapter ring enclosing seconds ring and date aperture engraved with leafy scrolls and husks within the matted center, winged cherub spandrels within border of engraved husks, c. 1710--71in. (180cm.) high
