Folio, 347 x 232 mm., contemporary blind-panelled alum-tawed pigskin over pasteboards, beack cover stained, lacks ties, corners worn, a single wormhole to engraved title and margins of following 12 leaves, minor wormtraces to margisn of last few leaves, a few rust-spots. Second edition (first 1583) corrected and expanded and constituting the definitive edition of Dodoens' botanical writings. Engraved architectural titlepage with figures of Theophrastus and Dioscorides and various flowering plants, roman letter, eight-line and smaller woodcut capitals, 1309 woodcuts in the text (six of them copied from the Julia Anicia Codex of Dioscorides), Plantin's woodcut device on last page.
