A fine, colored copy of the first illustrated Lyons edition, and the FIRST USE OF THIS IMPORTANT WOODCUT SERIES commissioned from Clément Boussy by Arnoullet in 1547. It is a miniature version of the woodcuts in the Basel editions published by Isingrin. The series continued to be used by Arnoullet in his 1550 French (see lot ???) and 1551 Latin editions of this same work, the 1549 and 1551 editions of Fuchs's Plantarum effigies (see lot ???), and 1550 and 1552 editions of Dioscorides.
