A GERMAN FOUR-PIECE SILVER TEA AND COFFEE-SERVICE ON TWO-HANDLED TRAY, WITH METAL TEA-STRAINER ON STAND, late 19th Century, comprising teapot, coffee-pot, two-handled covered sugar-bowl and cream-jug, each rectangular with canted corners, on four floral tapering feet, two sides chased with three putti playing in pastoral setting with in flowerhead and foliate scroll chased borders, the corners with similar floral and scroll decoration, with part decorated scroll handles, the pots with elaborately decorated spout, the hinged raised cover with conforming decoration and topped by cast foliate scroll finial, with plain molded shoulder--the coffee-pot 8in. (20.3cm.) high; the rectangular, canted cornered tray, with molded border with conforming decoration and applied rim, with foliate scroll handles--length over handles 21in. (53.3cm.), gross weight, strainer and stand not weighed, 95oz.
