A LOUIS XVI SILVER SOUP TUREEN, COVER AND STAND
PARIS, 1787, MAKER'S MARK OF ANTOINE BOUILLER; THE LINER WITH THE MAKER'S MARK OF JEAN-FRANÇOIS ROUMIER
The boat-shaped body on spreading foot applied with a band of granulated dentilation, the lower part applied with a calyx of palmettes and applied at the shoulder with a band of Vitruvian scrolls under a rim of laurel, applied front and back with a scroll cartouche later engraved with a crest, with two bifurcated swept handles applied with acanthus and bellflowers, the domed cover applied with similiar fluting and with bud form finial issuing from a calyx of palm leaves; the oval stand raised on eight baluster supports, applied with a band of laurel, marked on base, foot, cover, calyx and liner; struck with the charge and discharge of Henri Clavel, also struck with later Dutch import marks, the stand signed A BOULLIER A PARIS--length over handles 18½in. (47cm.), together with original leather case
