HAYNE, FRIEDRICH GOTTLIEB. Termini botanici iconibus illustrati oder botanische Kunstsprache durch Abbildungen erlaeutert. Berlin: 1799-1812. 15 original parts bound in 13, 4to, 294 x 240mm., non-uniform original wrappers, some backstrips worn, some spotting, mainly affecting the text, the seventh part with old dampstaining to the text and plates numbered 31-35. FIRST EDITION. Letterpress title to 'vol.I', two hand-coloured engraved additional titles and 69 plates. Nissen BBI 817; Stafleu & Cowan TL2 2507.
A complicated work bibliographically: the re-isssue, dated 1817, mentioned by Stafleu is probably based on the mis-dating of the second engraved title (1817 rather than 1807). A pictorial vocabulary of botany, the fine plates cover a variety of plants, as well as floral, fruit and root structures. (13)
