Based on Odiot's designs for a dinner service for Le Duc de Galieva, exhibited at the Universal Exhibition in Paris of 1867. The models of the putti holding garlands and the form of the jardiniere are illustrated in The Art Journal Catalogue of the Paris Universal Exhibition, 1867, p.18, where the figures are attributed to M. Gilbert and the pieces in the Duc de Galiera service are hailed as "achievements of the loftiest order of Art."

A related Odiot jardiniere made for the 1867 Paris Exposition is illustrated in Jean-Marie Pincon,Odiot L'Orfevre, Paris 1990, pl. 290, p. 184. The style of these jardinieres, called by Odiot "Louis XVI-Imperatrice," recalls Empress Eugenie's taste for the style of Louis XVI.
