Lot Essay

Previously attributed to German workshops, enamel of this type would appear to be French. Similar gold decoration appears on an unmarked and therefore not Parisian gold box, thereby suggesting an origin outside the jurisdiction of the Paris Guild, perhaps even near St. Cloud.
