Frankfurt: Christian Egenolff, (1540). 8vo, 146 x 91 mm., early 19th-century German half calf, slightly worn, dampstaining, occasional foxing, R3 with shoulder note shaved. 5 parts in one, italic type, headings in roman, some shoulder notes in Greek, woodcut printer's device on title, larger version on verso of last leaf. First and only(?) edition by the Frankfurt physician Janus Cornarius (1500-1558), editor of Hippocrates and translator of other medieval medical texts. The Macer Floridus poem with Cornarius's commentary make up parts 1-3, part 4 contains a spurious addition of 20 chapters, and part 5 consists of a verse tract in 743 hexameters by Marbodus, bishop of Rennes (d. 1123), on the healing properties of precious stones.
