The slender goddess dressed in long-sleeved flowing robes with a phoenix perched on rockwork beside her, holding a large blossoming branch of peony picked out in bright green at her chest, a further branch clutched in the beak of the bird, her face with benign expression below her finely incised hair drawn up in a high chignon, the pale greenish- grey stone with areas of spinach green at the base and icy white inclusions throughout--14¼in. (36.3cm.) high
