In the form of a bull standing on shaped rectangular base cast with greek fret and applied with laurel swags, later purpose made white enamel dial with roman chapters and pierced gilt scroll hands set with brilliants, the movement with anchor escapement, thread suspension to pendulum, striking the hour and half-hour on bell by means of countwheel, c. 1775--17½in. (44.5cm.) high

The case can be confidently attributed to François Vion (maître, 1764). The present clock is identical, save for the bull, to one incorporating a lion designed by Vion. See Ottomeyer & Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, Vol. 1, p. 193, fig. 3.11.6.
