Lot Essay

First modelled in 1752 by Blondeau after Boucher, the original drawing by Boucher for Le jeune suppliant is still at Sèvres and inscribed on the reverse "dessein de m. Boucher apartenant à la Manufacture de Vincennes, ce 23 aoust 1749".
Both these models were evidently produced in various sizes. The examples in the Wrightsman collection, Dauterman no. 114 a & b are 4¼ and 3½in. high. Préaud and Fäy-Hallé discuss both these models at length, figs. 491 & 512.
