BLUE INTERLACED L'S ENCLOSING THE DATE LETTER C FOR 1755 AND WITH FOUR DOTS ABOVE, BETWEEN AND BELOW AND INCISED 3

With quatrefoil lip and slender perforated ear-shaped handles enriched with gilt splashes, each side with fruit and flowers within rich rocaille ciselé gilt cartouches, reserved on the caillouté bleu lapis ground (minute rim chip to top rim and inside rim of cover)--12in. (30.5cm.) high
Provenance
One of a pair of urnes d'apres l'antique in lapis caillouté for 600 livres each to Lazare Duvaux between August 20, 1756 and January 1, 1757 (f.16r.).
Sold by Lazare Duvaux for 1200 livres on January 4, 1757 (the account was only rendered in June) to Louis XV for the Marquis de l'Hospital on his departure for Russia.
