Painted en camaïeu rose with a mill and a reclining man fishing, after Boucher, the border with eight flower-sprays and with gilt dentil rim--9¾in. (25cm.) wide

Lot Essay

Mutel was active at Sèvres with interruptions from 1754 to 1773.
In 1754 he painted another dish of this shape in the same palette with the identical windmill set in a different landscape vignette. It was sold in our Geneva rooms, May 7, 1979, lot 19; and again in our London Rooms, December 3, 1984, lot 31.
