Lot Essay

A cameo inscription at the neck reads Ding Chou Nian Li Shi Zao, followed by the seal Li. This can be translated as Ding chou year (probably corresponding to 1757), made by Master Li Shi. Another cameo inscription at the neck reads shi shi Ru ji, which can be read as a homophone for "May all of your wishes acome true during the Four Seasons", referring to the depiction of seasonal plants around the body. A further seal carved on the base reads Wei Zhi Zhen Wan, which can be translated as "Object of the treasured studio of eunuchs".
