A LOUIS XV SILVER, GOLD AND GILT METAL SNUFF BOX FITTED WITH CLOCKWATCH
PROBABLY FRENCH, THIRD QUARTER 18TH CENTURY, WITH VIENNESE CONTROL MARK OF C. 1806

Shaped oblong, with hinged base and glazed hinged cover, the sides with applied rose gold floral sprays, fitted with gilt panel chased with leafy scrolls on matted ground supporting verge clockwatch signed "S. Marchant, London" with circular gold dial, roman chapters and arabic minute numerals on matted ground, striking the hour on bell by means of countwheel, the clockwatch c. 1700--2¾in. (7cm.) high
