etching and drypoint, 1942, on buff wove paper, a fine impression of this extremely rare print, signed in pencil, numbered 19/35, one of approximately 20 proofs pulled in New York under the auspices of Atelier 17 and before oxidation of the plate (the balance of the edition was completed in 1955 by Masson; there were 25 later proofs on various papers plus 15 proofs on tinted Arches printed in 1985, both in Paris), published by Curt Valentin, Buchholz Gallery, New York, with full margins, a few soft horizontal creases, minor surface soiling showing mostly in the margins, two small skinned patches at the reverse of the top margin edge, otherwise generally in very good condition
