The painting is enclosed within an inner plaster frame consisting of an incised design with the date 1885 at the upper left and 1886 at the upper right. At the bottom, a bas relief ribbon is inscribed: "A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year" H. Bolton Jones - Francis C. Jones.
