Lot Essay

The present group, typical of Flannagan's animal sculptures of what is considered his middle period, was carved in late 1938 from the same block of limestone as his 'Goldminer', 'White Horse', 'Lamb', and 'Goat'. It was presented to Green Acres School the following year as partial payment for his daughter Moira's tuition.
