This late work which most likely dates circa 1880, shows Monticelli's familiarity with Cezanne, with whom he painted during this period.
John Rewald (Cezanne-Biography, New York, 1986, p. 146) has
suggested that Cezanne helped Monticelli send a painting to the Paris
Salon at this time.
