TANG DYNASTY
The mythical hooved beast modelled seated on its haunches supported on a hollow shaped plinth, with a muscular chest and winged forearms picked out in bright green, its fierce unglazed face with large elephantine ears divided by a conical horn curled at its tip, the whole covered in a vibrant green, amber and straw-splashed glaze, one wing and tip of horn repaired, burial encrustation - 26 in. (66.2 cm.) high
