A FAHUA RETICULATED JAR, GUAN
MING DYNASTY

The sides decorated with the Eight Immortals standing against a background of clouds, their faces left in the biscuit, with a band of petal lappets pierced with inverted lotus buds below and a band of cranes in flight amidst chrysanthemum scroll above, all below a narrow lappet border on the shoulder and a band of detached clouds on the neck, glazed in cream, yellowish-amber, aubergine and turquoise on a purplish-blue ground, the interior glazed green, inner wall broken--13 1/2 in. (34.3cm.)
