A GEORGE III SILVER TEAPOT ON A MATCHING STAND, the teapot probably Newcastle, maker's mark of J. Robertson I & D. Darling, circa 1795, town mark and date letter lacking (see Jackson, 1989 ed., p. 502); the stand, London, 1793, maker's mark of Henry Chawner, the rectangular teapot with concave corners, twice engraved with later monogram within shield, enclosed by tied drapery swags, between bright-cut demi-flower and foliate, bands, with part engraved straight spout, ivory loop handle, the raised hinged cover also part engraved and topped by oval bone finial--6¼in. (15.8cm.) high; the octagonal stand on four tapering bracket feet, the center engraved with same mongram within tied wreath cartouche, and bright-cut borders--6½in. (16.5cm.) long, gross weight 20oz.
