A FIVE PIECE SILVER TEA AND COFFEE SERVICE, sugar bowl and waste bowl maker's mark of Meridan, all numbered 568, others marked STERLING, comprising teapot, coffee pot, two handled covered sugar bowl and cream jug, each compressed circular with waisted octagonal necks, initialled B on four scroll feet with floral and foliate join, the body chased with panels of double flowerheads divided by acanthus, the neck panels bordered by foliate flutes below bellflower, with acanthus topped scroll handle, the pots with fluted spout and elaborate foliate shell join, the hinged, octagonal sided, highly raised cover chased with panels of foliate flutes and topped by foliate cluster finial--the coffee pot 9¼in. (23.4cm.) high, gross weight 100.5oz.
