Paid. frank (Haller FF7, type 2), printed express company frank in a double lined box, used on 10c Green on buff Nesbitt entire (U16, unlisted by Haller on this envelope), indicia uncancelled, light stain, and mostly clear oval 'Boyd's City Express Post' local delivery datestamp, to New York, light edgewear and soiling, still quite fresh and nearly fine, very scarce, Freeman organized his own post after the failure of Adams & Co. in 1855, and serviced the trans-Atlantic and foreign trade until 1859, when he sold out to Wells, Fargo
