Rhodes & Lusk's Express, Weaverville (Cal.), mostly clear blue double-lined oval express company marking, matching 'Paid' in double- lined oval, used in conjunction with clear red double-lined oval 'Wells, Fargo & Co., Sacramento', on brown cover to San Francisco, minor edgewear, still fresh and very fine, scarce and attractive double express company use, possibly from the period of the Rhodes partnership of 1851-1852, which would be very early for Wells, Fargo, as they did not begin operations until July 1852, ex Pearce
