Paid frank (Haller WF-E), a 'surcharge' which probably does not identify a separate express company, but a special and hazardous Wells, Fargo route instead, used with 3c Pink on buff entire (U35), cancelled with mostly clear and complete blue oval datestamp 'Wells, Fargo & Co., Portland', to Oregon City Ore., slightly irregular reduction at right, light edgewear, still quite fresh and fine, very scarce, these franks were designed for service into the Idaho mines
