Still massive even in half-bottles, the '59 Latour should continue to develop for decades in a larger bottle such as this. Notes Michael Broadbent, "Like Jane Russell, mean, moody and magnificent. A huge mouthful, packed, austere. Massive and masculine throughout the 1980s. Still very deep, opaque centre, maturing edge; a misleadingly gentle, cedary nose with the mulberry character of intense, ripe Cabernet Sauvignon. Full-bodied, rich yet still very tannic."
