LARGE PROOF BOOKS
Each of the following books contains a wide variety of uniface Proofs, all mounted on heavy paper pages. Some of the books also have several pages of associated vignettes at the back. Many of the notes are extreme rarities.
These books were probably created to provide a convenient record of past orders. Newer issues were apparently added to their respective books as they became available.
Most of the books contain Proofs one country only, although in several instances Proofs of different countries are combined into a single book. Many matching face and back pairs are included and often issues are presented in their entirety.
As with the Sample Books sold in Christie's November 28 and 29, 1990 auction of World Bank Notes, many examples are closely trimmed. Some are coming loose or are already separated from the pages because of the deterioration of the glue. While most of the Proofs in these books are unimpaired, in some instances large pieces are missing and other significant damage may have occurred. At times, vignettes and pieces of text have been removed.
