A SET OF ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS IN PENCIL AND COLORED PENCILS ON YELLOW TRACE
BY FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT FOR MR. ARCH OBOLER, MALIBU, CALIFORNIA, CIRCA 1941

Depicting elevations, perspectives, and floor plans of 'Eleanor's Retreat' each signed in the characteristic red block FLLW MACH 3 '41, the perspective drawing from below inscribed with a note to Eleanor Oboler. My dear Eleanor: I don't know much about 'Cooley Hats'...but this seems to have a nice domestic feeling for all its picturesqueness and be charming (see plan) We don't want to get too dogone wild--you know--do we? A circus is good for a brief moment--only Eagles see one thing--monkeys something else again--I hope you will forgive me and wear this as an appropriate mantle. FLW, the side perspective with note to Arch Oboler (since you are so far from town I thought you would need guest accomodations for six or seven as occasions--this little place is suitable for a couple or three or more and is modest--if charming--not expensive you see. The characteristic touch and sense not too eagle and certainly not monkey feed?) (4)
