A SILVER BISCUIT BOX, maker's mark of Gale & Hughes, New York, 1846, oval, on four waisted feet with foliate apron at intervals, the sides finely engraved with curling foliate scrolls centering four oval panels, front engraved with coat of arms, the back with crest, bordered by stylized anthemion, the hinged partly raised cover similarly engraved and topped by oval engraved finial--6½in.
