A JAPANESE TASTE SILVER MUG, SMALL BOWL AND FOUR SALTS, maker's marks of: the mug Vansant & Co., Philadelphia, circa 1886, facet hammered cylindrical, on molded foot, loop handle, the lower part of the body chased with mountains and incised with salamanders, ants and snakes, the center with asymetrical cartouche engraved with inscription dated 1886--3¼in. (8.2cm.) high; the small circular bowl--Gorham, 1878; on die rolled rim foot, the bowl engraved with ferns overlaid by geometric bands--5in. (12.7cm.) diam.; the salts--Tiffany & Co., 1878, one leaf, one fish, one pentagonal, one asymetrical, form, three gilt lined--average length 1½in. (3.8cm.), 9.5oz. (6)
