A BAKST-INSPIRED BALLDRESS AND HAIRBAND, BY EMANUEL
From the Emanuel's Diaghilev collection, made for a fashion show to benefit the Red Cross which the Princess attended and from which she chose this dress. The bodice is of white silk, and the skirt is of sheer white organza, embroidered with lozenge-shaped gold paillettes, outlined with gilt beads and simulated pearls. The peplum to the bodice is embroidered with a border of triangular gilt pressed paillettes, gold sequins and gold glass beads. A matching hairband is encrusted with simulated drop pearls, paste and gold.
