A FLAMENCO-INSPIRED BALLDRESS, BY MURRAY ARBEID

The tight, strapless bodice is of black velvet and the full skirt of scarlet taffeta asymmetrically raised at the front and dropping to the floor at back right. The skirt is composed of three layers of scarlet taffeta, over a petticoat of black over scarlet silk. The Princess wore this dress to a film premiere with one long glove of black velvet and one of scarlet satin and also during an official visit to Spain in 1987.
